We have been in the Kirksville area a little over a year. I chose Dr. Pettit from a flyer I received in the mail. His office is very modern with the most up to date equipment. I was impressed by his professionalism and the comprehensive exam I received. Thank you Dr. Pettit. My husband couldn’t be happier!

In March of 2018 I finally gave up after 2 years of ENT Drs. and decided I just needed hearing aids for my left sided hearing loss and pulsatile tinnitus. After the exam was finished Dr. Pettit told me that I did indeed have hearing loss and needed hearing aids, but he wasn’t going to fit me for them that day. He told me that my most urgent need was for a MRI of my head. I asked him if he had found a growth and he said there was cause to suspect that I might have and even though he could not refer me, he urged me to not ignore the possibility and get a MRI as quickly as possible.

I had an MRI of my head the very next week at Boone Hospital which showed 2 growths: one in my auditory canal and one at the base of my skull. Columbia doctors could not decided for sure what type of tumor I had or for sure if I had 2, so I made an appointment at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

I got an appointment in April and was diagnosed the first day with 2 paragangliomas. These are extremely rare tumors that most doctors never see in their career as they are at least 1 in a million and to have 2 raises the odds to 1 in 2 million. I won’t bore you with the treatment and details, but want to thank Dr. Pettit for his lifesaving advice and counsel.

I have been doing follow up with him since last March as Mayo felt it would be beneficial.

He’s #1 in my book and I’m so grateful for his professional and personal skills with his patients.
